Tim Wiese, Bu Ku Dao and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News
Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese could be working alongside WildKat prospect Bu Ku Dao in the eclectic world that is WWE NXT.
Wiese is reportedly garnering interest from WWE officials. Dao, a high-energy wrestler who first made his mark in Louisiana, is one step ahead of him. "The Situ Asian" is on his way to WWE developmental.
In other NXT news, several top prospects are scheduled for opportunities on the main roster, while Jeff Cobb, an Olympian from Guam, discusses his experience trying out for WWE.
At some point, Wiese may be running through the same gauntlet that Cobb and other potential prospects did.
WWE Reportedly Interested in German Goalkeeper
1 of 4
WWE is heading to unexpected places in search of the next great wrestling star.
In this case, the company reportedly sent feelers out to the pitch. Tim Wiese, formerly a goalkeeper for the German national squad, says that WWE is interested in bringing him aboard.
Wiese told Bild (subscription required) (h/t The Guardian), "I have an official enquiry from the WWE. It’s about working for them as a wrestler. I will listen." He went on to note that he would discuss the offer with his agent.
As Metro pointed out, Wiese has been bulking up since stepping away from club football. He certainly looks the part now.
If he were to sign a deal with WWE, he would join fellow former goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson (now Hugo Knox) in trying to make the transition from deflecting balls to hitting the ropes.
NXT Stars to Work More TV Tapings
2 of 4The recent overlap of NXT and WWE is set to continue even though Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn didn't show up on Monday's Raw.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports, "Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze are currently scheduled for the next few weeks, while we are told NXT champion Adrian Neville is currently scheduled to be at the tapings well into October."
In addition, according to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestling Inc), The Ascension will be working more upcoming live events.
So far this week, those prospects have only worked when the cameras weren't on. ProWrestling.net's SmackDown report (warning: link contains spoilers) noted that Zayn and Company wrestled in dark matches on Tuesday. Breeze took on Kofi Kingston, while Neville and Zayn teamed up against The Ascension.
Fans can likely look forward to more than that, though. Scheduling Neville to work at the main-roster shows for that long makes more sense if he's going to make an appearance on TV, as he did on Sept. 8.
And with The Ascension no longer NXT tag champs, chances are they will make their way onto Raw and SmackDown. They have looked ready for that promotion for months.
Jeff Cobb Discusses Recent WWE Tryout
3 of 4"Mr. Athletic" Jeff Cobb believes that he left a good impression with WWE officials in his recent tryout. The former Olympian was one of several prospects looking to snag WWE's attention.
In an interview with Guampdn.com, Cobb described the experience as "pretty much two-a-day workouts of just killing us and seeing if we were going to quit."
In his mind at least, he stood out. He said "it seemed like they liked everything they saw" and noted that he earned his share of positive feedback.
Cobb is a short, stocky wrestler who employs a Shooting Star Press into his matches. At 32, he's older than many of the prospects WWE signs.
It shouldn't be long before we here if he did enough in the ring to counterbalance that.
Indy Wrestler on His Way to NXT
4 of 4WWE made it clear that size alone won't disqualify one from getting a shot at NXT. Bu Ku Dao, known as "The Situ Asian," is just 5'0'', but he's on his way to the WWE Performance Center.
PWInsider confirmed that Dao is "signing a WWE developmental deal and will report to NXT shortly."
Dao competed for Louisiana based-Wildkat Sports for much of his young career. He's a fun performer but certainly no blue-chipper. Read a scouting report for the new recruit here.
He enters WWE developmental at a time when top talents like Fergal Devitt, Hideo Itami and Kevin Steen are set to showcase their skills at Full Sail University. Standing out among those men is going to be a challenge.
