Eagles' Darren Sproles Records Career-Best 152 Receiving Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesSep 16, 2014

Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles set a new single-game personal best for receiving yards Monday, piling up 152 on seven receptions in a 30-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts, per ESPN Stats & Info.

One week after his 49-yard touchdown run helped the Eagles come back from a 17-0 deficit against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 31-year-old Sproles recorded a game-high 178 scrimmage yards, including 19 on an impressive game-tying touchdown run in the third quarter.

The 5'6" scatback posted the second-highest single-game receiving yardage total for a player 5'6" or under, falling 16 yards shy of the 168 recorded by running back Lionel James in a game for the 1985 San Diego Chargers, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

Sproles, who played for the Chargers from 2005 to 2010, set his previous single-game personal best of 128 receiving yards as a member of the New Orleans Saints in 2012.

He has five 100-yard receiving games in his career, with two more 100-yard games on the ground, back in 2007 and 2008.

Sproles had more carries than receptions in his first four seasons in the league, but has now recorded more receptions in three of the past four years. Two games into his Eagles tenure, he has 15 carries for 97 yards and a team-high 11 receptions for a team-high 166 yards.
