Rumors concerning the legendary Ric Flair's health have been circulating ever since he missed last week's WWE NXT Takeover event, but the WWE has officially addressed the matter.

"Ric Flair is recovering from successful surgery and will miss tomorrow’s scheduled guest referee appearance at SmackDown," read the statement, via WWE.com. "Ric is doing well and we look forward to him returning to WWE in the near future."

The statement doesn't specifically say what Flair had surgery for, but according to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, Flair remains in a Georgia hospital after undergoing multiple minor surgeries. In addition to missing SmackDown, he will likely also be held out of Sunday's Night of Champions PPV in Nashville, per Johnson.

It's bittersweet news. You never want to miss a chance to see The Nature Boy "wooing" inside the squared circle, but at the same time, it's a huge relief to know he doesn't appear to be dealing with any major issues.

While Flair is a charismatic presence capable of adding something special to any show he's a part of, no one would blame the 65-year-old for concentrating solely on his health and well-being for the foreseeable future.
