Friday, September 19

Anthony Chapman of the Express reports that Arsenal and Liverpool are both considering January bids for Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

The 22-year-old has failed to establish himself as a first team regular at the Bernabeu following his move from Malaga at the start of last season. Chapman writes that Isco is "understood to be keen to test himself in the Premier League."

Arsenal and Liverpool are said to have turned their attention to Isco after conceding that Juventus are the favourites to secure a deal for the Barcelona winger Pedro.

Real Madrid have announced that centre-back Raphael Varane has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The French international has made 74 first team appearances and scored four goals for Los Merengues since joining from Lens in 2011, as per AS.

Varane has periodically been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu to join up with his former boss Jose Mourinho at Chelsea—most recently during this summer's transfer window, as per Ben Jefferson of the Express—but has now committed his long-term future to Real Madrid.

Iker Casillas

Wednesday, September 17

French tabloid Le 10 Sport (h/t Metro) report that Arsenal could be set to make a January move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Monaco—who had a deal in place to sign Casillas' fellow Spanish international Victor Valdes on a free transfer prior to his injury at the back end of last season—have also been linked with the Spanish No. 1.

The 33-year-old could be tempted to seek pastures new after receiving abuse from sections of the Bernabeu crowd so far this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Tuesday, September 16

The future of Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be called into question, with Bleacher Report columnist Guillem Balague suggesting that a return to Manchester United could be on the cards for the Portuguese international.

Speaking on the Revista de la Liga program on Sky Sports, Balague provided a summary of the situation.

"

He dreams of going back to Manchester United and Manchester United have got all the finances in place to get him.

When will that be? It depends, of course, on a lot of things. It depends on Real Madrid and on Cristiano himself.

I have a pretty good idea of when he wants to go. It won’t be this month or next month, but he wants to go back to Manchester United and everything is in place for him to return to Old Trafford.

"

Balague also notes that Ronaldo has been unhappy with Madrid's transfer dealings over the last two summers, particularly the departures of Angel Di Maria, Xabi Alonso and Mesut Ozil.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is disenchanted with life at the Bernabeu and could seek a move away from the Champions League holders.

Calderon told talkSPORT:

"

My impression is he is fed up with the policy of the current president.

When he came [to Real Madrid] with [Arjen] Robben he thought he would be a good colleague for him in the team [but then he was sold].

Two years ago it was [Gonzalo] Higuain sold and he didn’t like that. Last year he thought it was a mistake to let [Mesut] Ozil leave and the last straw was selling Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria this summer.

"

Anthony Chapman of the Daily Express reported on Sunday that new Manchester United recruit Angel Di Maria will try to persuade his friend and former team-mate to join him at Old Trafford next season.

Chapman speculates that their relationship is likely to give United the edge over Chelsea and Manchester City, both of whom are also reportedly interested in bringing Ronaldo back to the Premier League.
