Dolphins vs. Bills: Twitter Reaction and Full Postgame Quotes

Ian WhartonSep 14, 2014

The Miami Dolphins’ poor performance on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills led to a 29-10 loss, dropping the Dolphins to 1-1 on the season.

After the disappointing showing, the coaches and players had a lot to say about Miami’s execution in the game. Let’s take a look at the locker-room reactions after the game.

"

Philip Wheeler said the Dolphins "are built to beat the Patriots" but "the Bills are built to beat us."

Entering Week 2, we took a look at the Dolphins’ game plan against the Bills, and the team wasn’t able to execute at a high enough level to overcome the Bills. Buffalo’s defensive line and offensive playmakers proved to be too good for Miami this week.

"

Branden Albert said Bills didn't do anything surprising that Dolphins were unprepared for "They executed their game plan better than we did"

— Andrew Abramson (@AbramsonPBP) September 14, 2014"

The Dolphins were certainly out-executed, but the game plan needs to be criticized as well. Miami wasn’t able to stop Buffalo's playmakers at any point and relied on difficult matchups that favored the offense too often.

"

Mike Wallace said dolphins had zero intensity.

— Andrew Abramson (@AbramsonPBP) September 14, 2014"
"

Mike Wallace: "Every single play you heard them screaming, yelling. They were fired up. And we were quiet."

— Andrew Abramson (@AbramsonPBP) September 14, 2014"

Mike Wallace had powerful statements after the game, and the lack of emotion by the Dolphins was a problem in 2013 as well. It’s an indictment on the coaching staff and captains of the team. The leadership group members need to lead by example more often.

"

The Bills do indeed have the formula to beat Miami. Own the line of scrimmage, especially without blitzing. Run the football, and win STeams

— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) September 14, 2014"

When you factor in Buffalo’s home-field advantage on Sunday, the Bills had the perfect formula to defeat Miami. This loss was more indicative of a bad matchup than the Dolphins imploding.

"

I give Daryn College a lot of respect. He was one of the few Dolphins who called Sunday's loss like it was. "Too many 1-on-1 matchup losses"

— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) September 14, 2014"

It’s hard to win when the players don’t fulfill their on-field responsibilities. Left guard Daryn Colledge was among the interior linemen of the Dolphins who struggled to help the offense sustain drives.

"

Said last week #Dolphins victory vs. #Patriots was driven by Sept home weather. Lots of fans dismissed it. Not much has really changed yet

— Jason Cole (@JasonPhilCole) September 14, 2014"

It’s not fair to downplay the Dolphins’ victory over New England. Miami wasn’t the better team in Week 2, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good in Week 1.

"

Buffalo D is controlling the game vs. Miami. Shutting Dolphins out at halftime.

— Tony Dungy (@TonyDungy) September 14, 2014"

A lot of blame can fall on the Dolphins for their poor play, but credit should also go to the Buffalo Bills. They outplayed and outcoached Miami.

"

"I thought Buffalo deserved to win the game. They certainly outplayed us. We had our chances in the 2nd half," Philbin said.

— Omar Kelly (@OmarKelly) September 14, 2014"
"

#Dolphins LG Daryn Colledge: "We’ve got to decide which of those two game is going to define us. There's a long road ahead of us."

— Andrew Abramson (@AbramsonPBP) September 14, 2014"

It’s good to see the Dolphins veteran put this loss in perspective. The Bills won the game, but there are 14 more to go in the season, and this loss can be avenged later in the year.

How Miami responds to this loss is more important than the game itself.
