Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 2

Kenny DeJohnSep 14, 2014

Fantasy owners have to be pleased with the showings of Cincinnati Bengals running backs Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill in Week 2.

Both tailbacks made their presences felt on the ground and in the air. Bernard, the second-year back out of UNC, had 27 carries for 90 yards on the ground at the half. He scrambled in for one touchdown. Quarterback Andy Dalton has also found Bernard five times for 79 yards.

Hill has provided more explosiveness on the ground, rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries (4.9 yards per carry). He has a modest 22 yards on two receptions as well.

Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Bernard, and this week's performance only confirms that truth. It's clear new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is committed to Bernard, so he will continue to put up strong RB1 numbers, especially in PPR leagues.

Hill is also worth owning, though not as a starter. He provides explosiveness as a change-of-pace back, and fantasy owners could stash him in case of an injury to Bernard. Should that occur, Hill would be a solid starter in most leagues, but for now he's gaining some flex consideration.

With A.J. Green out for the remainder of the game, via Jay Adams of AtlantaFalcons.com, expect Bernard and Hill to see a heavy workload. Should Green miss time outside of this game, both backs' value increases tremendously.
