Pierre Garcon's Fantasy Value After Robert Griffin III, DeSean Jackson Injuries
Week 2 didn't exactly begin favorably for the Washington Redskins. Halfway through the first quarter, quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a left ankle injury and was carted off the field with his leg in an air cast, according to Marc Sessler of NFL.com.
The team's official Twitter account initially deemed his return as questionable before it was revealed he was ruled out for the remainder of the game:

Shortly after, wide receiver DeSean Jackson went down hard on his right shoulder when attempting to haul in a deep ball from backup quarterback Kirk Cousins. He was tended to on the field, and was taken to the locker room by trainers immediately. Washington tweeted his status as out:
This situation will have a big impact on Pierre Garcon's fantasy value—although, not necessarily in a negative fashion.
Cousins has been a shaky regular-season replacement for Griffin, accumulating just a 58.4 passer rating in 2013. However, of his four passing touchdowns last season, Garcon was on the receiving end of two of them.
Bleacher Report's Chris Simms weighed in on Cousins following Griffin's injury:
Cousins finished the game completing 22 of his 33 passing attempts for 250 yards and two touchdowns for a passer rating of 109.4. That's a great performance; however, the fact that Garcon caught just one pass for 12 yards from the quarterback is troubling for fantasy owners.
Garcon was targeted just four times, and instead, it was Niles Paul commanding Cousins' attention, recording eight catches for 99 yards and a score. However, take one thing into consideration: Due to Cousins' role as a backup heading into Sunday's contest, his rapport and timing with Paul was significant due to practicing with the receiver on the second-team offense.
Should Griffin miss any significant amount of time, Cousins will be seeing plenty of reps with Garcon and the first-string offense before the Redskins next take the field against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Don't fret over Garcon's down fantasy week. He's still a viable starting option going forward, and he has a great chance to bounce back next Sunday against a porous Eagles secondary.
