Comparing a 2.43-Meter High Jump to a Basketball Hoop Puts It in Perspective

You have to actually see what Qatar high-jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim did at the 2014 Diamond League series in Brussels in order to believe it.

Barshim and Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko battled to see who would be named champion, and in the end, it was Barshim. He cleared the bar at an incredible 2.43 meters. The photo above really helps put that number in perspective.

According to Athletics Weekly, only Cuba's Javier Sotomayor (2.45 meters in 1993) has topped that mark.
