WWE Night of Champions 2014: Most Likely Heel and Face Turns at the Event

Sharon GlencrossSep 11, 2014

Going into the Night of Champions event, just who on the WWE roster can fans expect to potentially turn heel or face?

Interestingly, the bookers did tease a possible John Cena heel turn on Monday's Raw when the star confronted Paul Heyman in the middle of the ring. The evil business manager was apparently attempting to lure Cena to the dark side, an idea the 12 Rounds actor resoundingly turned down, pointing out how much his charity work and position as a role model to young children mean to him.

That entire segment could've been a red herring to truly shock the fans if he does turn in Nashville at Night of Champions, but it probably wasn't. Cena may very well go heel a few years or so from now, but turning him at Night of Champions just doesn't make much sense right now, especially with Daniel Bryan out and Roman Reigns still unproven as a lead babyface.

As for other, more likely heel or face turns? Well, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Brie Bella turn heel and help her sister Nikki win the WWE Divas Championship in her Triple Threat bout with Paige and AJ Lee, thus mending their deeply fractured relationship. Honestly, the Brie-Nikki feud has been terrible so far, with some very wretched segments and horrible acting.

Brie isn't as remotely over as a good guy as she should be, either. It doesn’t help that, thanks to some very odd booking, she is also coming off as the narcissistic, spoiled, bratty sister that Nikki claims she is. Why would the fans want to cheer for her? They’d have probably turned on her too!

WWE might be smart just to cut its losses and end this feud by having the two siblings make up in the storyline. It could also make for some interesting television when Daniel Bryan eventually returns from his neck injury. Just how will the wrestler feel about his bride joining up with the same people who made his life a total misery for a year?

United States champion Sheamus will take on Cesaro at the event. It could be time for the Celtic Warrior to turn heel. Perhaps he could cheat to win and retain his title?

Not only would this revive Sheamus' stale character, but it would also probably serve to turn Cesaro babyface in the process, something that probably should have happened a while go.

The charismatic and talented Cesaro is a natural face, just like Sheamus is far better suited for the role of a heel.

From a creative perspective, Night of Champions is shaping up to be a very intriguing event. The writers on WWE’s creative team have to know that the Nikki vs. Brie feud isn’t going anywhere, just like they have to know Sheamus and Cesaro are badly miscast in their current roles.

But are they willing to rectify their mistakes at the pay-per-view?
