Borussia Dortmund vs. Freiburg: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Tom SunderlandSep 12, 2014

Freiburg travel to Signal Iduna Park on Saturday hoping to reverse last season's dismal record against the Black and Yellows, which saw them lose to Jurgen Klopp's side both home and away.

On their last Bundesliga trip to the Westfalenstadion, Christian Streich's men were subjected to a 5-0 humiliation, but with Klopp's side having already suffered defeat this season, Freiburg can hope to improve.

The hosts, meanwhile, will look to build on their first win of the season, a 3-2 triumph over Augsburg, with full viewing information and a preview of the key players likely to feature detailed ahead.

Key Players To Watch

Borussia Dortmund: Shinji Kagawa

How coincidental that Shinji Kagawa's last opponent during his first spell as a Borussia Dortmund player should also turn out to be his first upon returning to Germany two years later.

The Japanese international played a heavy role in Dortmund's final league game of the 2011-12 season, a 4-0 win over Freiburg that he'll be hoping to recreate on Saturday afternoon.

With Marco Reus suffering a knock while away on international duty, it could be that Kagawa is called upon to provide the creative spark behind Klopp's most advanced figures.

ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld quotes the Black and Yellows boss in stating that his newly reacquired asset is ready to be launched back into the fray:

Should Reus be available, there can still be a place found for Kagawa in the side, and his return will mark an emotional moment for both him and the club alike.

Freiburg: Admir Mehmedi

Apart from Freiburg, Hamburg are the only club who have failed to find the back of the net so far this season, and forward Admir Mehmedi's shoulders a heavy burden in attempting to reverse that pattern this weekend.

BASEL, SWITZERLAND - SEPTEMBER 08: Admir Mehmedi of Switzerland (C) fights for the ball with John Stones (L) and Jordan Henderson of England during the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Switzerland and England on September 8, 2014 in Basel, Switzerland. (

The attacker missed a chance to win the game for his side last time out as Freiburg stumbled to a 0-0 stalemate against Borussia Monchengladbach, Mehmedi missing a penalty.

The Swiss international is getting accustomed to the feeling of not winning after starting in his nation's 2-0 defeat to England on Monday, and if anyone looks likely to break the Freiburg drought, it's him.

Standing in his way is a Dortmund defence that's already conceded four goals this term, and with Mats Hummels uncertain to feature due to a pelvic injury, Mehmedi can hope to capitalise.
