If President Obama wants a tee time, he gets one.

Unless it’s a holiday weekend, in which case the nation’s country clubs are free to tell the commander in chief to pound sand.

WNBC reports (h/t TMZ) that the leader of the free world was shunned by a number of popular New York golf courses over Labor Day weekend.

According to the WNBC report, club managers at Trump National, Winged Foot and Willow Ridge turned down tee time requests from President Obama’s golf-course-reservation-and-reconnaissance team. (I assume he calls it that.)

Reps at the various courses told WNBC that Obama's presence would force them to shut down the entire course for security reasons—something they weren't keen to do on one of their busiest days of the year.

Of course, there’s also the Trump angle at play, meaning Donald Trump—owner of Trump National—purposefully sandbagged President Obama on a tee time for petty, personal or political reasons.

This was not the case—probably not even a little bit. But it is fun to think Trump would reach down from atop his twisted spire in Mordor to personally snuff out the president’s weekend plans.

Just remember, Mr. President: There’s always Bushwood.
