Liverpool Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of September 8
The madness of the summer transfer window may have finished, but while some may breathe a sigh of relief, for others it's simply the start of speculation for January.
Liverpool had a very productive summer, bringing in nine new players to bolster Brendan Rodgers' squad. It was also a summer of eight exits, most notably Luis Suarez's departure to Barcelona, while 11 Reds players went on loan for the rest of the season.
The transfer speculation is quite sketchy at the moment, but keep an eye on this page throughout the week for the latest from the Liverpool rumour mill.
Glen Johnson to Italy
1 of 2
Glen Johnson could be heading to Italy in January, six months before his contract at Liverpool expires.
The Mirror's John Cross links the 30-year-old England international with Juventus, while Anthony Chapman of The Express claims Napoli are also interested.
Following the arrival of Spanish duo Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo this summer, Johnson could find himself struggling for a place in Brendan Rodgers' XI once he returns from injury.
Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)

One player linked with Liverpool earlier in the summer was winger Xherdan Shaqiri—and with good reason, according to the player himself.
The 22-year-old winger claims Liverpool had a bid for him rejected by Bayern Munich, as per ESPN:
"Liverpool made a bid for me before the World Cup but Bayern put their foot down and told me, ‘We’re not going to sell you.'
My contract runs until 2016 and I could possibly extend it. I will consider my decision during the winter break.
"
Could January prompt Liverpool into renewing their interest in the exciting Swiss international?
