Atlanta Falcons Set Single-Game Franchise Record for Total Yards
The Atlanta Falcons set a new single-game franchise record for total offense, piling up 568 yards in Sunday's 37-34 overtime victory over the archrival New Orleans Saints, per ESPN Stats & Info.
In a matchup between two teams best known for their prolific offenses of recent seasons, quarterback Matt Ryan got the best of Drew Brees and the Saints, throwing for a team-record 448 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Because Ryan took one sack for three yards, the Falcons were officially credited with 445 passing yards as a team.
Ryan's record-setting game through the air was complemented by a solid team rushing effort, with the veteran quarterback and running backs Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith and Devonta Freeman combining for 123 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

A number of different Falcons were active in the passing game, with the highest receiving-yardage totals racked up by wide receivers Julio Jones (116), Devin Hester (99), Roddy White (72) and Harry Douglas (69), followed by little-known running back Smith, who took his lone reception for an impressive 54-yard touchdown.
It was a true team effort, as each of the four aforementioned wideouts caught at least five passes, even though none of them had any more than Jones' nine targets. Also pitching in was tight end Levine Toilolo, who caught three balls for 19 yards and a touchdown.
On what was truly a historic day for the franchise, Ryan also broke the team record for career passing touchdowns, throwing Nos. 154, 155 and 156 of his career.
