DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 1

Sean ODonnellSep 7, 2014

The Houston Texans may not have the best situation at quarterback, but veteran signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick looked decent against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. As expected, the two wide receivers to benefit most were DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson.

Johnson has been the team's most prolific wide receiver since the team drafted him third overall in 2003. That trend appears to be continuing for a 12th consecutive season after he received a team-high nine targets—Fitzpatrick only attempted 22 passes—during the contest.

The veteran reeled in six of those targets for a team-high 93 yards.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Johnson's performance moved him up the ranks for all-time receiving yards:

Hopkins was a breakout candidate entering the 2014 season after finishing his rookie season with 52 receptions for 802 yards and two scores. Through almost one game, that prediction appears to be coming to fruition. Hopkins' speed was on display, as the Redskins secondary watched him catch four passes for 89 yards and a score.

The Texans' official Twitter account relayed Hopkins' biggest play of the game:

Both of these wide receivers appear to be worthy fantasy starters going forward due to their high level of production despite a run-heavy game plan.

Fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief and start both Johnson and Hopkins with confidence.
