Derek Carr, Rod Streater's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 1
Rookie quarterback Derek Carr started his career in style, with wideout Rod Streater becoming the main beneficiary. Both could prove sneaky waiver-wire additions going forward after their Week 1 performance.
Carr, who beat out veteran Matt Schaub for the starting job this preseason, completed his first five passes against the New York Jets, including a 12-yard touchdown strike to Streater.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He finished with 151 passing yards and two touchdowns, failing to expose New York's battered secondary deep. Yet considering his circumstances as this season' only rookie starting quarterback, he earns a passing grade for his outing.
The second-round pick earned rave reviews during August, with James Jones calling him "mini A-Rod" to the San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur in reference to his former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Fantasy football managers will need more than a quarter before joining Jones with that leap, but Carr is worth a look for owners looking for a high-upside No. 2 quarterback. Even if he doesn't produce better numbers than Alex Smith or Carson Palmer, gamers might as well roll the dice in hopes of stealing a budding star.

Streater, who caught five passes for 46 yards and a touchdown, could become a useful matchup play in points-per-reception (PPR) formats. If Carr thrives, the third-year wideout will reap the rewards.
