Barcelona want Luis Suarez to be fit to face Real Madrid in the October Clasico if necessary and it looks like he is going to be ready.

The Uruguayan striker scored two goals for Barcelona against their B team in a 60-minute friendly organised by Luis Enrique which took place at the club's training ground.

The first-team side, minus players who are with their international squads, won 5-1 and Suarez put in an energetic display.

He is desperate to make sure he is fit for the start of his own season, which commences from October 25, when his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini expires.

Barcelona face Real Madrid that weekend, with the game set to take place on either the 25th or 26th.

Enrique returned from a coaching seminar in time to see the game and would have been impressed with Suarez's contribution.

It would be no surprise if he does start against Real Madrid, now that he has been given permission to train with his Barcelona team-mates.

Although some might expect him to play from the bench, given that making his official debut in a match of such magnitude would place him under a lot of pressure, he could be a real weapon if given a starting berth.

Asked about being under scrutiny, and pressure, Suarez said he can handle it. He told Marca, h/t Football Espana:

I’m calm in this regard as I played in England and have already been through that. I get used to this kind of pressure. Pressure, but not with that many eyes watching you. I’ll get used to more now. This time, being at the biggest team in the world, there will be even more eyes than before. After everything that happened, even more. So I have to be wary of these things and take responsibility and be smart in this regard.

Enrique seems likely to have a couple more of these training matches before Suarez can return, to keep his fitness level high, per the Daily Mail.

Suarez could also feature for Uruguay in two friendlies shortly before the end of his ban, which would ensure he was ready to play against Real Madrid.

If he can train with Lionel Messi and Neymar until the trio have a perfect understanding, and his fitness is good, then Enrique will not hesitate to throw him into battle at the Bernabeu in October.

Clasico clashes are an explosive mixture at the best of times and the addition of Suarez will make an already sure-to-be-enthralling spectacle even more compulsive viewing.

The closer the game comes, the more likely it seems that Suarez will play a major role in it.

If he keeps training well, builds a strong relationship with his strike partners, and convinces Enrique to play him, then he may not only start the game, but he may be the man who finishes it as well.
