2010 NBA Off-Season: D-Wade a Boston Celtic?

Tony SantorsaJul 15, 2009

Boston Celtic fans should hope and pray that the home town green can land the 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade in the '10 off-season. D-Wade, in my opinion, is the best package deal in the 2010 NBA off-season (yes I rank him higher than LeBron). Why you ask? D-Wade is the ultimate defender who averages just under 2 steals per-game and he is an all around offensive player who can play either guard (25.7 PPG 5.9 APG).

Why should the Celts pursue him? He can play point or shooting guard. He is one of the top players in the world and he is one of the top passers and scorer that the NBA has to offer. Rajon Rondo will have one year left on his deal and the Celts can look to move him before his contract is up and before he asks for the big bucks. With the signing of Wade this opens up many opportunities for Boston.

The Celtics will lose Ray Allen, Scal, House, and Tony Allen in 2010. If the Celtics also move Rondo, this can open up some big cap space for the up coming years so the Celtics can offer Wade a pretty good deal that can hopefully blow him away.

When you think of it, this makes the Celtics roster quite flexible. They have multiple players who can play multiple positions, (i.e. Pierce can play either SF or SG and Wade can play either guard). This also means that they can draft and develop a young new point guard or even go out and sign a solid point guard like Randy Foye or Steve Nash to name a few.

My ideal situation would of been if the Phoenix-Boston trade went down this off-season with the Celts sending Rondo, Ray Allen, and a few others to the Suns for Nash and Stoudemire because their contracts are up in '10 and that opens up a huge space in the salary cap. Too bad that didn't happen because a starting team like Nash, Pierce, Stoudemire, Perk, and KG is pretty impressive.

Well the 2010 NBA off-season is a year away and a season separates us from then, but teams cannot wait for it (Besides Cleveland because they're likely to lose LeBron). I really can't wait to see top players like, Wade, LeBron, Dirk Nowitzki, and Chris Bosh swap jerseys. But first we get to enjoy the up-coming 2010 season!
