Bowe Sprained Shoulder vs. Steelers
Monday, Dec. 22
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe suffered a sprained shoulder during the team's Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, BJ Kissel of KCChiefs.com revealed Monday afternoon.
It is unclear when Bowe suffered the injury as Herbie Teope of ChiefsDigest.com explained he played on the majority of offensive snaps:
Albert Wilson accumulated 87 yards on five receptions while Bowe added 57 yards on six receptions in Week 16. Neither have scored a touchdown this season.
Bowe has been with the team since it drafted him in the first round of the 2007 draft and has dealt with various injuries over the past couple seasons. He missed three games due to a rib injury in 2012 and one with a concussion last year.
The wideout missed the first game of this season due to a suspension for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy, but has played in every game since, even battling illness ahead of Week 16.
The biggest issue for Kansas City as it heads into battle with the San Diego Chargers in Week 17 is that it doesn't have another receiver ready to handle the role of a No. 1 target. Wilson performed well against Pittsburgh, but he was able to do so opposite Bowe. It remains to be seen how he would perform if Bowe was unable to suit up.
Of course, the pressure on Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis to carry the offense via the ground game would rise in that scenario, though it is seemingly already sky high.
