Monday, May 5th
Eric Bruntlett went 2 for 5 with a Run, a Triple, and 3 RBI. Wladimir Balentien went 2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI. Mike Lowell, Shannon Stewart, Geovany Soto, Yadier Molina, Chris Iannetta, Geoff Jenkins, Emil Brown and Carlos Ruiz banged out three hits each. P Jaime Moyer collected a couple of Hits.

Ervin Santana threw a four-hit shutout with 9 Ks to improve to 6-0 with a 2.02 ERA. Brett Tomko (7 scoreless Innings, 2 Hits, 7 Ks) took a no-decision in the affair. Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed 1 Run on 2 Hits in 5 Innings to improve to 5-0 with a 2.43 ERA. He did walk eight batters though. Dustin McGowan (7-1/3 scoreless Innings, 4 Hits, 6 Ks) outdueled Javier Vazquez (7-2/3 Innings, 1 Run, 9 Ks). Ryan Dempster allowed 5 Runs (all of them unearned) in 6 Innings with 6 Ks. He lost to Johnny Cueto, who allowed 3 Runs in 6 Innings with 8 Ks. At least those who bought high on him can feel good about this start. Josh Rupe pitched 4 one-hit scoreless Innings of relief. Jamie Moyer gave up 2 Runs in 7 Innings with 5 Ks for his 2nd Win of the year. Chad Billingsley allowed 1 Run in 6 Innings for his 2nd Win. Garrett Olson (6-1/3 Innings, 1 Run, 4 Hits, 7 Ks) and Dana Eveland (7 scoreless Innings, 3 Hits, 4 Ks) each took no-decision in their pitchers’ duel.
