Recruiting has gotten off to a hot start for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team during the month of July as new head coach Dan Mullen added offensive guard Wes Rea on Monday afternoon. Interestingly enough, the commitment came by way of baseball coach John Cohen.

Rea is a talented offensive guard prospect from Gulfport, Mississippi. According to the Rivals recruiting service, Rea is ranked as a four-star prospect, and is the fifth-best offensive guard in the nation during the 2010 recruiting cycle.

Listed at 6'5", 290 lbs, Rea is a dominant offensive lineman who has the versatility and the frame to play either the guard or the tackle position in college.

Rea is expected to receive Division I scholarship offers in both football and baseball. During his junior season at Harrison Central High School, Rea hit well over .400 for the baseball team and put together a 5-1 record as a pitcher.
