Mario Williams Injury: Updates on Bills Star's Status and Return

Buffalo Bills star Mario Williams has been removed from the team's active/non-football injury list just one day after being placed on it, Chris Brown of Bills.com reported.

Brown reported the defensive end had been placed on the list Thursday but couldn't specify what happened to the four-time Pro Bowler that landed him on the sidelines.

Williams joined Buffalo as a free agent in 2012 following six seasons with the Houston Texans. He played all 48 regular-season games in his first three years with the Bills, so durability shouldn't be a concern.

Buffalo has considerable firepower in its front seven, with Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Jerry Hughes able to pick up the slack. That side of the ball isn't the big concern for the Bills in their first year under coach Rex Ryan.

As great of a player as Williams has become in mostly living up to his billing as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, he has never participated in a playoff game. The Bills need Williams at 100 percent to lead their magnificent defense if they're meant to make the postseason.

How many wins Buffalo can realistically expect depends more on the quarterback position, with Matt Cassel, EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor all on the roster.
