Steve Stricker Wins John Deere Classic, Plus Your Fantasy British Open Picks

Steve Stricker added his name to the list of candidates for PGA Player of the Year with his victory at the John Deere Classic. The win was Stricker's second tour victory this year.

Stricker was on my fantasy team this week, helping me move again in the Yahoo Fantasy Golf standings.

I have been hot as of late and hope to continue my good fortune during the British Open. I am picking Tiger Woods to win the British Open.

I am currently at place No. 10, 865 for the full season, and have 540 points for the summer. So far, this puts me in the 94th percentile. I am ahead of all the Yahoo experts for summer and ahead of two of them in the full season standings.

Yahoo Fantasy Golf is getting kind of fun.

This week, I will take Tiger Woods as my A player, along with Tim Clarke, Steve Stricker, and Luke Donald.

On the bench as back-ups will be Geoff Ogilvy, Hunter Mahan, Charley Hoffman, and John Daly on a big hunch.

If Daly makes the cut and plays well this week, I would love to activate him.

A number of players have multiple wins, giving each of them them a change to win the POTY award. Winning the British Open would go a long way toward making that goal a reality.

If Tiger could notch another win in Scotland—giving him his fourth victory this season—he would be the front-runner for the end of the year honor.

He's the man to beat, and everyone knows that.
