Ziza Sounding Off: Fantasy Football Draft Advice
The Fourth of July has already come and gone and news around the National Football League is heating up. You are getting excited for your fantasy football draft; you have perused what the Bruno Boys have to offer and you went out to buy a $10 magazine. You figure that all that you really need is what is in that $10 magazine because it comes with player rankings and best of all, a draft sheet. “Woo-hoo,” you think. This information is outstanding and now it will allow you to chill this summer and head into the fantasy draft as king. Except for one small thing; you are completely wrong!
I am not here trying to throw insults at you. That is not how I am. What I am here to do though is speak my mind. That is something for which I am well known. Just ask my buddy Bruno Boys Larry. There was more than one occasion in my past in which things got a bit heated in discussion about this and that in the fantasy football world with our colleagues. Am I a jerk? Heck no. Actually, I am a pretty laid back cat; I am just Ziza. Or in this venue better known as Bruno Boys Ziza. I have a passion for the truth and that is what I am here to bring to you, the truth. Are you ready for some tough love? We will see.
First of all, if you are going to rely only on your magazine to help you get through this year’s draft, congratulations on having the best possible team from last year that will flop this year. Why? Because most of those magazines are written well before the NFL draft even takes place, and after the draft, they just plug in the final piece to their puzzle and have the magazine off running to the presses as soon as possible. What you hold in your hand really is a $10 roll of toilet paper. While it will be useful in catching up on who is who in the fantasy world, most of those rankings are complete junk. If you really want some good rankings, take a look at what the Bruno Boys have in our 2009 Pre-Season Webazine , a draft tool that we will continually updated prior to your league’s draft. Giving you by far, the most accurate rankings that you are going to find on the net to date, as long as you keep coming back to read those precious updates.
Secondly, try hitting the forums that the $10 magazines provide to you. Wait, most of them don’t? Even if some do, you won’t find the people who wrote up the write-ups participating in the conversations taking place. In other words, your questions are going unheard. You don’t have to worry about that at the Bruno Boys. Heck no. We have this disorder obsession called,”Fantasy Football Addiction.” We are addicts; addicts that have a keen eye for what is going on in the industry and what is going to take place from week to week. If you have questions leading up to the draft, ask us on our forum boards which you can find by going to the www.brunoboys.net and clicking on our forum link. You will get quick answers to all of your fantasy questions on that forum. No doubt about it.
Thirdly, you now see websites that are popping up everywhere offering free player rankings; questions answered quickly; this, that and the other thing. And that is all that they primarily do. Here at the Bruno Boys we offer all of that and if you asked, I am sure we would throw in that bag of chips. There isn’t a collection any better than what we have assembled on our staff this off-season. We have writers with Masters Degrees, writers that left well-known pay sites and a collection of die-had fanatics whose wit and passion comes second to none. We really do mean it when we say we are committed to giving the Bruno Boys Nation everything that we have and then some.
So what do you really want to do? Rely on that $10-dollar stack of toilet paper that you just purchased at your local drug store; the same copy that half your league undoubtedly also will be relying on solely? Or are you going to rely on the Bruno Boys to help you take the next step into becoming a well-rounded fantasy guru? One that can walk into his/her draft knowing that you have the Bruno Boys on your side, not in front of you making each and every single call for you; although we are more than happy to do that if you really want to. But where is the fun in that? The fun is gaining knowledge this year and implementing it for years to come while continuing your education until you become one of the elite. We will be here to guide you every season. Trust on the Bruno Boys and we will entrust our supremacy onto you.
Other Quick Hits
- The Cleveland Browns’ Donte’ Stallworth was just let out of jail 24 days into a 30-day sentence for DUI manslaughter. Ok, granted he will be on house arrest; excuse me, mansion arrest for two straight years, but come on now. Let’s break this down. A DUI is bad, manslaughter is even worse. And, he decided to do an uncommon feat by tying the two together and was let out of jail early on a 30-day sentence? I know people who did far less that have spent months if not years in jail for things that weren’t nearly as appalling. Stallworth kills someone; early release. OJ Simpson kills two people; come on we all know he did it. Found not-guilty. Michael Vick fights some dogs and does some sick and twisted things to them; go directly to jail. Don’t pass go, don’t collect your $200. Does that make sense to you?
- Speaking of the Cleveland Browns, what a disaster of an organization. They are starting to make me really think that I don’t have a bad thing going loving my Detroit Lions as I do. The Browns, who struggled to get anything going offensively last year not only kept the same combination at the running back position, which is led by aging veteran Jamal Lewis, but they also traded Kellen Winslow to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and are keeping an ear open if any trade offers come about for Braylon Edwards and now they have Josh Cribbs, a wide receiver, kick returner and supposed prospect to play some secondary holding out and threatening not to play a down for the Browns unless his contract is restructured. Last year people in the fantasy football world wanted to get their hands on the Browns’ starting quarterback. Who wants to bet that the story is not the same this year? Can we say low-end QB2 at best?
If you haven’t done so already, go check out the new Bruno Boys forum. There are many new features this year that will make it much easier to partake and feel part of the community. It will not disappoint.
