TBT Rookie Edition

In that moment when the flashbulb pops—or the smartphone's pretend shutter emits its digital chirp—your best moment may not have been captured, but only someone with the most fragile self-esteem would walk away convinced that one day the same moment would look laughably outdated.

The fact is we have a myopic grasp of how much things can change in a decade, but that's not a bad thing.

TBT, or throwback Thursday, exists because most human beings have at least some measure of fascination about their own image—and simultaneously fail to fully comprehend the long-term value of a bowl cut.

So, there are billions of boxes and albums, as well as hard drives, filled with awesomely—and often terribly—retro moments captured in photos and digital images.

We know that TBT knows no class or creed, because social media apps like Facebook and Instagram have enabled athletes to post their own TBT moments.

And with MLB in full swing and the start of the 2014-2015 NFL and NBA seasons just around the corner, Throwback Thursday is a great time to get know some of those leagues' newest pros by taking a look at pics that show them in all their best, worst moments.
