Ibrahimovic Out of Lille Match

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be in the squad to face Lille due to physical preparation.

Jonathan Johnson of Bleacher Report passed along the information:

Ibrahimovic is one of the most important players in Europe. The striker was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year each of the past two years for his success leading the PSG attack. Last season, he scored 41 goals in 45 matches across all competitions and is off to another terrific start.

He suffered a hamstring injury in the latter stages of the last term. The ailment forced him to miss the second leg of a Champions League quarterfinal encounter against Chelsea, which seen the Parisians' tournament run come to an end.

The Sweden international was able to return before the season came to a close. He wasn't in top form, however. While his home nation missing the World Cup was a disappointment, the extra time off did give him a chance to get back to full strength.

Now the question surrounds how long Ibrahimovic will be sidelined. PSG will hope he's able to return to full fitness relatively quickly, but more information and a potential timetable should be available after further training.

If Ibrahimovic is forced to miss any key matches, as was the case last season, PSG's chances of making a run to the title take a huge hit.

No single player is capable of replacing him on the attack. It's going to take a complete team effort in order to generate the chances he usually does by himself. Even then it will be difficult to match his creative finishing ability.

Once further details are provided, it will be easier to determine the full impact on Paris Saint-Germain. Until then, there will be a lot of crossed fingers among the club and its supporters.
