Arsenal Are Keeping Their Promise

Mohamed Eldin MasriJul 8, 2009

It's been another quiet summer at Arsenal, but it is by no means a bad one.

So far no key player has left the club, and apart from the silly Fabregas rumors we keep hearing, there are no players being linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium.

And the main reason this is happening is because Arsenal aren't giving the press any chances whatsoever in ruining the team. Van Persie was one of the most talked about players even before the summer started, and even though he urged the team to stick together, the press kept linking him to Inter, Barcelona, and even Arsenal's biggest rivals, Man United of all the teams out there.

Van Persie ended all speculation with a long term contract, while Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy have both made official statements that they did not and will not consider a move to any team and that they are fully focused on Arsenal and nothing else, while Gallas put a smile on our faces by stating that he intends to honor the contract he has with the club. After proving doubters wrong with his performances, Gallas might have the chance to be the first player to retire at the club since Dennis Bergkamp.

Of course that doesn't mean that the press will stop bothering Arsenal, they have to make a living you know, so now they are making all the rumors about Fabregas and even Arshavin, also stating that Dennis Latcher is still Arshavin's agent and Latcher himself stating that as well (It's over Dennis, let it go).

So does that mean that Fabregas or Arshavin are going to leave this summer ?

Of course not, while Fabregas will probably return to Barcelona at one point, he has a contract that ties him to Arsenal until 2014.

Also, Arsenal are cheaper than Uncle Scrooge, you think they're gonna sell the most expensive player in the history of the club after six months of signing him. Even if they'll get a profit out of it, the thought of it is more ridiculous than Bendtner's pink shoes.

And with the acquisition of Vermaelen, things look bright in this transfer window. Even though he's 23, that's a good thing because most of the players around him are the same age which means that it can only enhance the team's chemistry, and for Arsenal, chemistry is everything.

Rosicky and Eduardo should be fully fit by the start of the season, and having Wenger put all his faith in these two, I feel they'll be the biggest surprise next season.

The Arsenal board have kept their promise so far. No key players departing, no players demanding a bigger salary or else they'll leave the club, and after making the CL semi final, no more people calling them babies or kids.

If there is a time for the fans to be optimistic, then that time is now.
