Manchester City Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of July 14

Rob PollardJul 14, 2014

After lifting the Premier League and the League Cup in his debut season in charge at Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini has already set about improving his squad this summer in order to build on those initial successes.

Bacary Sagna, Fernando and Willy Caballero have arrived, with a top-class centre-back also still thought to be on the Chilean's radar.

With City's net spend limited in light of the financial fair play sanctions imposed on them by UEFA, departures appear to be inevitable, too.

Check back here throughout the week to read the latest transfer news coming out of the Etihad.

Falcao and Barkley on City's Radar?

1 of 4

According to Rob Bleaney's transfer rumour round-up in The Guardian, City are thought to be interested in both Radamel Falcao and Ross Barkley.

He states that Real Madrid's interest in Falcao has cooled now their focus is on James Rodriguez, leaving City best placed to nip and seal a deal for the Monaco striker.

And Bleaney also suggests Barkley, who has impressed hugely over the last 12 months, is the club's top target to replace Yaya Toure, should the Ivorian leave this summer.

Toure Staying Put

2 of 4

But Toure, it seems, is going nowhere. The midfielder, who has hinted at an exit throughout the summer, has told Sky Sports:

"

There has been a lot of speculation but theyโ€™ve always been good with me and good with my family.

I want to say that I will always honour my contract and stay as long as possible and donโ€™t think about all the speculation saying that Iโ€™m leaving.

For the fans for all they have done for me and the club as well, I need to say itโ€™s a big pleasure to stay and continue and try to enjoy the next season.

Everything is fine now. There was a lot of speculation about people sending me away and people were sending me everywhere.

I think sometimes it can be disappointing and I need to do something for the fans because people love me and people want to hear about what is happening. So itโ€™s important as well to keep them in a good way and let them know that the team are preparing well and weโ€™ll try to do it again next year.

Yaya Toure Set for Talks

4 of 4

According to Jamie Jackson in The Guardian, City midfielder Yaya Toure is set for showdown talks with Pellegrini before City play their second preseason tour match in the United States this summer.

City take on AC Milan in Pittsburgh on July 27, with Toure expected to join up with the squad three days prior. Pellegrini is thought to want the situation regarding his future sorted as quickly as possible.

Toure and his agent, Dimitry Seluk, have both made comments to the media suggesting the Ivorian is unhappy at City and will consider a move away from the club this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be interested.ย
