Celebrity Selfies at Sporting Events

    USA TODAY Sports

There are plenty of photos of celebrities at sporting events, but truly special are the celebrity selfies.

Standard celebrity shots are more for the benefit of us laypeople. We're like, “Jay Z and Beyonce are at a Nets game. How cool is that?”

But that’s not the case here. In these photos, celebs are like, “I’m at the freaking Super Bowl! So awesome!”

Selfies are so damn humanizing. Behold the power of sport to put us all on the same level.

And, of course, the bigger the celebrity, the better it is.

Honorable Mention: Macklemore on Seahawks Plane

1 of 15

This one gets an honorable mention because Macklemore isn’t actually at a sporting event yet. He is, however, on the plane to New York with the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

The rapper is a longtime fan of the team and has a real-life bromance with head coach Pete Carroll, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Michelle Rodriguez at Knicks Game

You guys remember this one, right? Michelle Rodriguez and supermodel Cara Delevingne got, well, weird at a Knicks game and captured it on film.

This photo is pretty tame, but you can see more of the duo’s bizarre antics here, courtesy of our friends at US Weekly

Cara Delevingne at Nets Game

Speaking of Cara Delevingne, here’s one of her at a Brooklyn Nets game that attracted infinitely less attention than her escapades with Michelle Rodriguez at Madison Square Garden.

Michelle Kwan and Youth Hockey

4 of 15

The sporting event in question here appears to be a youth hockey game, which is awesome. No one said these were limited to pro sports only!

Michelle Kwan is a documented Lakers fan, but this time the retired figure skater-turned-diplomatic ambassador spent a little time with her fellow skate-wearing compadres.

Khloe Kardashian at Clippers Game

Back when Khloe Kardashian was Khloe Kardashian Odom, she was a staple at the Staples Center. (See what I did there?)

This gem of her with Kimye is a power shot, but doesn’t look to be a selfie technically.

A true selfie—meaning they took it themselves—the one above shows the youngest of the K girls with friends at what appears to be another Clippers game in 2013.

Luke Rockhold with Will Ferrell at World Cup

6 of 15

MMA fighter Luke Rockhold snagged a pretty sweet selfie with funny guy Will Ferrell at the World Cup this year.

Ferrell is a notorious sports fan, often showing up to cheer on his USC Trojans football team or announce a starting lineup at Dodger Stadium.

What you might not know is that Ferrell got his start with NBC not on Saturday Night Live, but as an intern in the sports department—and his major at USC was sports journalism.

Gerard Butler at Formula One

Is this a selfie? Sure looks like a selfie!

In addition to accompanying Bradley Cooper to Wimbledon in 2013, the Scot also hung out with Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith at the United States Formula One Grand Prix last year.

When he's not attending sporting events with other celebrities, Butler can be found engaging in selfie competitions with Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Fallon at Nets Game

8 of 15

Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, can be seen here at what I can only assume is a Brooklyn Nets game, due to his caption, “Go Brooklyn!!” I’m such a detective.

Fallon is not spotted at quite as many sporting events as, say, Rihanna, perhaps because he is afraid of the Nets mascot, according to Yahoo Sports

Kate Upton at Tigers Game

9 of 15

It makes sense that Justin Verlander’s girlfriend would be at a Detroit Tigers game. What doesn’t make sense is her green hat—sorry, incorrectly colored sports hats are a pet peeve of mine.

Getting back to the selfie, Kate Upton is a model, actress and Michigan native, and she always supports her man.

Her man might actually need a little more than a model girlfriend cheering him on at the moment. Lately, JV has been a far cry from his ace form of two years ago.

Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather at Clippers Game

10 of 15

Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather Jr. give Drake and Johnny Manziel some competition in the bromance department.

Often seen together at Mayweather’s fights, here the two take in a Clippers playoff game—maybe they ran into Khloe Kardashian?

Hugh Jackman at Wimbledon

11 of 15

Wolverine digs tennis. This is Hugh Jackman at the men’s final at Wimbledon—sporting a pretty intense new look from the neck up, I might add.

Jackman was among several celebrities to take in Novak Djokovic’s epic defeat of Roger Federer. Also on hand were the Beckhams, Samuel L. Jackson, Bradley Cooper, Gerard Butler and Chris Hemsworth.

Also, Hugh Jackman at Super Bowl

Who knew Hugh Jackman was so into selfies?

Unfortunately for him, Macklemore’s happiness equaled Jackman’s dismay at Super Bowl XLVIII.

His “C’mon Broncos!!!” selfie caption didn't drum up enough good juju to overcome that stifling Seattle defense—even with three exclamation points.

Jessica Alba at Wimbledon

Like I said, it was a star-studded event at the Wimbledon men’s final. Jessica Alba took in the Federer vs. Djokovic action with friends but also just took a ton of selfies.

Here’s another one of her handiwork on display. Hey, Jessica! There's a tennis match happening!

Ashton Kutcher at World Cup

14 of 15

Yet another beauty from the World Cup.

Ashton Kutcher is a well-known fan of the Chicago Bears, but he is also often spotted courtside at Lakers games solo or with his baby mama Jackie, er, Mila Kunis.

    Nice seats, Kelso.

Rihanna at Clippers Game

15 of 15

Rihanna, the self-proclaimed “Selfie Queen,” is one sporty chick. It seems she’s trying to join Jack Nicholson and Spike Lee in the biggest celebrity basketball fan club.

Her attendance at various NBA games—and what she wears to them—is the subject of much Internet chatter.

This particular selfie was taken at a Clippers game in May 2014. And omg, look at that backward hat/red lip combo. It's bold, but Ri Ri pulls it off, right?
