In other words, you can see why Saints fans want to hold on to whichever top talents remain at the club. And when one such fan happened to run into Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on a Rio de Janeiro beach, he seized the opportunity to make an impassioned plea.

"Please don't take Schneiderlin. Please don't take Schneiderlin from Southampton!"
