Two teams who turned in spectacular performances in the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup must summon yet another massive effort in order to move onto the quarterfinals of this tournament.

The Netherlands outscored all other 31 nations in the opening round, earning the full nine points, while Mexico allowed just one goal in three games—tied with a couple other sides for the best goals allowed number.
