Joel Embiid's Reaction at Going No. 3 to Philadelphia Leads to Awkward Moment

Getting drafted by an NBA team is something that every basketball player dreams of. When it finally happens, especially if he is taken in the first three picks, there should be some celebrating. 

Which is why Joel Embiid's reaction, or lack thereof, was awkward. 

Despite undergoing surgery on his foot recently, the former Kansas star was taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft.

Embiid wasn't at the draft, but there were cameras in the room with him on this night. When his name was called, he didn't have much of a reaction at first:

The 76ers let everyone know that there was a simple explanation for the lack of a reaction at the time:
