Around the Track: More News, Notes, Quotes, and Pics from Daytona

The first Sprint Cup practice is underway.

David Regan is topping the speed chart at 190.717. Other notables are Joey Lagano in fourth, with Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch rounding out the top 10. 

I had a chance to ask Martin Truex about his move to MWR. "Why would you ask about that?" was his response.

Joey Lagano was asked about the giant lobster he got for winning New Hampshire. 

"We're debating on what we're going to do with the thing right now. We're not really sure. I know it's still up in New Hampshire, so I don't know."

Each car and driver have to make a trip across the scales before entering the racing surface.

Carl Edwards seemed a bit apprehensive about his trip to the scales.

"I have been married six months now," said Edwards. "Not exactly sure if my work out routine has been keeping up with my eating."

No word yet on the tale of the scale.

Tony Stewart's car is wearing new colors and a new sponsor this week. Burger King will be his primary sponsor for the race. 

Dale Jr.'s car is sporting a slightly different paint scheme this weekend also. 

Nationwide cars are on the track next for their final practice, and then Sprint Cup cars again at 6:35 pm, finishing off at 8:00 pm.
