German Elephant Is New 'Paul the Octopus,' Predicts World Cup Matches

Remember Paul the Octopus? The lovable little cephalopod had an uncanny knack for predicting international football matches, correctly calling the winner in all of Germany's matchups.

He also predicted Spain's triumph in the final, capturing the hearts and minds of fans around the world before his death in October 2010.

Thankfully, this World Cup will not suffer for lack of an animal oracle. A German elephant has stepped up to occupy Paul's lofty perch.

While the Associated Press video above doesn't offer any insight into how the elephant is making his picks, you'll undoubtedly hear all about it if a few of them turn out to be correct (USA over Germany, anyone?)
