A League Of Their Own: Wrestlers Who Shun Stereotypes and Sympathy

Matthew HesterJun 28, 2009

Hello, everyone. As always, thank you for spending a few minutes with me today.

I must warn all you readers that the following article mat be found offensive to some people. I would recommend that if you are easily offended to please stop reading.

If you do decide to read on, I will please ask you to keep a open mind before judging.

If I were to say to you that there were wrestling matches like Blind vs. a mentally ill person what would you say? How about a handicapped father vs. Non handicapped son match would that strike a nerve?

In case you haven't figured it out, I am talking about handicapped pro wrestling. Not only does it exist, but it is thriving in the market of pro wrestling.

Over in the land of the rising sun there is a federation called the "Doglegs: Super Handicapped pro wrestling." It is a roster made with nothing but handicapped wrestlers.

Now before anyone says "How dare they" or "That is appalling" please keep in mind these wrestlers want none of your pity. They would in fact be more offended if you did pity them.

This roster has wrestlers in wheel chairs, people with cerebral palsy, Mental disorders, and blind and deaf wrestlers. Its also worth noting that the wrestling is good. I would recommend that YouTube it, so you can see for yourselves.

These athletes all their lives were told that they couldn't compete due to their illnesses. They not only compete, they are also considered by fans and critics to be very good.

I saw a match with "Orocji and L'amant", I have to say I was amazed by the things I saw. They opened my eyes to a whole new world of wrestling that I never thought was possible.

These wrestlers do everything else that other wrestlers do and they do it with pride. They are defying the critics and a society that have labeled them as sympathy cases.

The matches are done in good taste. The wrestling is solid through and through, and they even blade. In fact I would say it would be in bad taste for anyone to forbid them from wrestling.

I wish I could to tell you more about these amazing athletes but my Japanese isn't very good.

I would ask the bleacher creatures check them out and judge for your selves. They work hard and deserve as much recognition as any other wrestler out their.

I provided a link for all of you to see.
