With the World Cup on the horizon, transfer stories tend to take a back seat to football's biggest event—however, there are still plenty crammed into that back seat.

Real Madrid are no different to any of Europe's other top clubs, and after a quiet period in the rumour stakes surrounding the Champions League final, plenty of articles are now beginning to leak speculating on incomings and outgoings at the Bernabeu.

After what must be considered a successful season for Los Blancos, Carlo Ancelotti isn't expected to be overly busy, but there will surely be a few tweaks made to the the Italian's squad.

The following slides will be updated throughout the week with the latest chat on Real Madrid.

    Last update: Monday, June 2

Real Madrid and Juventus are in talks over the possible transfer of Alvaro Morata this summer.

Ernesto Bronzetti, Florentino Perez's right-hand man in Italy, has confirmed to Tuttosport, as reported in Spanish publication Marca, that the two clubs are in talks over a potential deal:

The process is underway, but I am expecting the negotiations to take some time. Morata won't leave Real until they have secured a replacement.

Talks are being conducted according to the [Dani] Carvajal model: Real Madrid would be able to bring him back after a year.

It makes sense for the European champions to include a clause which would enable them to bring him back after a year because even though Morata doesn't look ready for regular action yet, they may live to regret letting him go permanently.

Ivan Rakitic

The father of Sevilla's Ivan Rakitic has spoken about his son's future, claiming that his son could join any of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in Croatian newspaper Jutarni, per AS:

His brother Dejan, who is his agent, has offers on the table from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. But we will decide after the World Cup.

However the conditions on offer are not better than those that he has at Sevilla. He is a God there.

Rakitic has been one of the stand out performers in Spain this season, leading Sevilla to a fifth-placed finish and the Europa League.

Marca, per Football Espana, has revealed that during a meeting with Florentino Perez, Iker Casillas has decided to stay at Real Madrid.

The Spanish paper suggested that he had previously voiced his desire to leave the club, but following success in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, he has now performed a U-turn on that original decision.

With Diego Lopez also looking set to stay at the club, it will be interesting to see if Carlo Ancelotti's rotation policy holds up for another season.

According to Football Espana, a report in Spanish publication AS has claimed that new AC Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi is targeting Real Madrid left-back Marcelo.

Fabio Coentrao has long been expected to leave Madrid this summer, but with the Portuguese full-back finishing the season in fine form, one line of thinking is that Marcelo could become available.

However, it still seems unlikely, and Carlo Ancelotti is likely to knock back any approaches his former player, Inzaghi, makes for his current player, Marcelo.

Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal

    Mon. June 2

Florentino Perez's trusted agent in Italy, Ernesto Bronzetti, has said that Real Madrid will not be involved in the summer scuffle over Juventus midfielders Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.

In comments to Tuttosport, Marca has revealed Bronzetti claimed that Los Blancos "aren't interested in Pogba or Vidal" despite the rumours that persist.

Carlo Ancelotti is speculated to be a huge fan of Vidal, and Juve's sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta, previously admitted that Madrid had "shown an interest [in the Chilean international]" but haven’t submitted any offers.

Raphael Varane

    Mon. June 2

Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Chelsea, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, who coached Varane at the Bernabeu, are the club strongly linked with making a move for the young French international.

Varane told French TV show Telefoot, per Sky Sports, that he isn't thinking about his future at the moment:

Will I remain a Real player next term? I am absolutely not focused on that. There is a World Cup to prepare for and it is not the right moment to have such questions.
