The B/R Rant: Saying What Is Needing To Be Said!

Yes, I just said something from a song, a good one called "Say" by John Mayer. The words are the very key to what I do here on B/R. I personally love this place, but what I don't understand is the hating that goes on here.

I recently was a victim of some of this. I have since gotten an apology from this person and I have tried to turn my B/R life around myself. And issue here is with trolls, but also with the normal writers here too.

I don't understand it personally.

Maybe it is competition, maybe it is jealously, maybe it is a lot of things. But one thing is for sure, it needs to stop.

People come here to write, not get abused.

I came here in August of 2008. And believe me when I tell you, I was not a great writer. I had a lot to say, but I just didn't know how to properly put it down into words.

I still don't know how to do it sometimes. But, I have since improved from almost a year ago.

B/R has been good for me for many reasons.

It has helped me in my writing, it has even helped me get jobs outside of B/R.

I was offered a chance to do my own online radio show for a wildtalkradio.

You wouldn't believe how many offers I had from other sites to come and write for them too. Some offering payment!

But, enough about that.

One issue here is the B/R Rankings. There is no denying the fact many are not pleased with them 100%.

Some people are mad that they are not ranked higher. To those people, I know the way to get to the top. FREAKIN WRITE MORE!

The rankings are based on participation, amount of articles, reads, and comments. If you write at least one or two articles a day you will move up the rankings very quickly. The fact is, many do not want to work their way to the top, they want it handed to them because they write good articles.

I know a lot of you are sitting there reading this and thinking, WOW Joe is an idiot. Well before you claim this, think.

If you write 1 to 2 articles a day and they each get about 200 reads or so within 24 hours and average around 10 comments per, you would have 400 reads and 20 comments for that day.

Since the rankings are based on the formula above, you have participation because of the articles, you have reads and comments too. Therefore, while others are sitting at home whining instead of writing, you'll move up.

Because some people would rather have things handed to them. When they don't get what they want, they complain.

I would love it if one time people didn't complain about the rankings and actually did something for once.

My goal when I arrived was to get the No.1 ranking in the wrestling section. I was a new member, and wanted to make a statement. I cared about myself, and myself only.

While I worked my way up(by writing) people complained because I was passing them.

They were writing maybe once a week, while I was writing every day. I know people have lives, and so do I. But when you complain about a new guy passing you because he is participating and you're not, there is something wrong going on in your head.

I am not going to sugar coat this people, you need to hear how stupid this is.

I managed to make my way to the top spot I wanted so much, and because people were complaining and bashing me, I bashed back. It was wrong, I know.

However, because these people were mean to me in the beginning, I felt I had to be the same back. Therefore starting some vicious circle. It was not what I wanted at all. I didn't come here for this, I came to write.

A proffessor of mine always told me to tell the truth, and I'm doing that now.

Some of you are good people, you're doing as I said, working your way up here on B/R one article at a time.

It is a shame when these young writers are passing many of you, and instead of helping them get better in their writing, you make fun of them and virtually bully them here on B/R. These young men and women are leaving this site because of you!

When will you realize that just like life, things will not be handed to you?

If you had someone do that to you in real life, how would you feel? Bad right?

Then why do it to someone else?

The rankings are fine, it is the people that need to change.

Also, people will disagree with you on articles you write.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone come on an article and tell the author that they disagreed and tell them why, yet the author gets bent out of shape.

The author even has issues with this person who commented to the point that they hate on every single article the other person does. They do it just to spit them, which is a sad.

If you disagree with someone, why stoop so low to get back at them? Express your opinions, and if you still disagree, then agree to disagree at least. You can argue with them all day, but if they have made up their mind there is nothing you will be able to do.

It doesn't matter who is right in that instance, people are naturally hard headed. If they believe something is right, they will think it to the very end.

Taking things personally here is stupid, it is just an article. You will both get up the next day(Lord willing), you will eat, drink, and go to do your own thing. So life goes on people!

I am saying what I need to say here, and if you do not like it, I am sorry. It is nothing personal, it is just needing to be said.

Sometimes people need to realize how stupid they are being. I'm just here to shed light on it.
