What Is Gar Foreman Doing?

Michael GibbonsJun 25, 2009

OK so heading into the 2009 Draft there was talk the Bulls were trying to trade up to get someone. They had worked out something like 50 players. And the only thing I know for sure is.....Ben Gorden is not going to be part of this team next season.

I say that assuming that there is no major trade that clears half this team away.

With the 16th pick the Chicago Bulls draft James Johnson a 6'7 maybe 6'8 forward out of Wake Forest. He has some potential and will probably fit in nicely behind Deng and might be able to play the 4 as well. A lot of other players that the Bulls were supposedly interested in were on the board so the Bulls definitely wanted this guy.

With the 26th pick the Chicago Bulls draft Taj Gibson a 6'9 power forward from USC (coached by former Bulls coach Tim Floyd). The drafting of Gibson who is a shot blocker (USC's all-time leader) probably means that Ty Thomas is probably on his way out to town.

While writing this Bulls GM Gar Foreman popped up on ESPN to talk about the draft picks. Basically confirming he likes the guys they drafted and repeating everything on the scouting report blah, blah, blah. Deng has started rehabbing and should be healthy for the upcoming season and says they hope to sign Gordon which I will repeat I believe is BS.

I assume a trade could be in the works for this summer but could be for next summer. They have a lot of players who can play all over but I expect to see Rose, Salmons, Deng & Noah to start and possibly Ty Thomas or one of these 2 rookies. If no trade is made they will be probably in the same spot as this past season 6-8 seed and will be a tough out in the playoffs.
