Chris Bosh To Chicago...Go Right Ahead

micheal malcolmJun 25, 2009

If Chris Bosh wants to go to Chicago let him he doesn’t really want to win. One thing I’ve always hated about almost every single prominent Toronto star that has left Toronto is that they come back and they absolutely make a mockery of management.

Exhibit A: Vince Carter (To many game-winning shot hit against the Raptors)

Exhibit B: Carlos Delgado (Generally destroys Toronto pitching)

Exhibit C: Steve Sullivan (Not bad for someone who wasn’t supposed to be good enough)

Chris Bosh hasn’t won anyone over with his silence this off-season and certainly has not impressed me with his bland comments when discussing his contract status. So here is what I have to say to you Chris: If you want out let management know, and if you really want to go to Chicago heck I will personally use my discount at Air Canada to get you out in a hurry.

One of the things that have always annoyed me is that Bosh claims he wants to be ‘the man’ and wants to play for a winner. Frankly I think that is a bunch of nonsense and political posturing. Going to Chicago doesn’t take you to the top of the mountain, nor does it get you any closer to those finals. When you state that you want to ‘go to a winner’ you are really saying that you want to be in a better situation. Let’s not frame it as anything else, you feel that you have done all you can here and it’s not working…so move you? Here’s the thing Chris you are considered THE cornerstone of this franchise, you are ‘the man’, you get all the accolades, and yes all the detractors but it comes with the territory. With you wanting out of Toronto much like Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady you only are admitting to the world that you have nothing left to give that you can’t take this team to the higher heights they deserve. This literally is almost as bad as Carter giving 50% but at least we knew what we got from him; you surprise me Chris.

I am dumbfounded with the increasing amount of athlete’s wanting to be placed with better teams, or ‘winners’ simply because they don’t like their particular situation. Truly most of these players don’t care about winning. In the NBA of years past players scrounged on losing teams (Mitch Richmond of Sac-Town comes to mind) for years without complaint, and now a new generation of stars want to be traded or hold their teams hostage until their demands are met (Yes I can think of hundreds of situations in the past 20 years in the NBA that this applies to but it wasn’t as common place is it appears today).

Ultimately the Toronto Raptors have some sense of control in this scenario so I encourage you Mr. Colangelo if you have an opportunity to move Bosh for pieces that can help make Toronto a contender do it…do it for every long suffering basketball fan that supports winners and hates whiners. You think Toronto won’t win Chris? You’re not good enough to prove us wrong.
