Saints Interested in Derrick Brooks
Sports Illustrated writer Peter King has reported that the New Orleans Saints are interested in free agent All Pro LB Derrick Brooks. The interest appears to be lukewarm, but if signed, Brooks could likely land a starting role with the Saints alongside Jonathan Vilma and Scott Fujita.
Brooks has not had a substantial offer come across the table since he was cut in a veteran purge by the Buccaneers. He is getting up there in age (36), but still has Hall of Fame pedigree and some productive years left in his system.
He is not the only veteran with pedigree who is currently out of the job. The league's leading rusher, Edgerrin James, and receiver, Marvin Harrison, also find themselves out of a job.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In a league that is putting premium on youth and potential, more and more veterans are left off of rosters so younger players can grow.
Grabbing Brooks not only gives them a potential starter, but he brings a veteran savvy with extraordinary leadership qualities you do not find in many players. At the least, he would be a great locker room presence for a defense that has not so spectacular the last several years.
I say the chances are 50/50, we will see how it turns out.
