College Football Preview: No. 120, Western Kentucky

In my review of the 120 college football teams in the FBS this year I have picked Western Kentucky as No. 120. The Hilltoppers are starting thier second year in FBS and the Sun Belt with a brand new QB.

Brandon Smith is a Senior who saw little action last year. Smith has not had the game action to step in and lead this team and I will not be surprised if he is benched some time in season for one of the other five QB's the Hilltoppers have.

Western has 26 incoming freshman and some could be impact players if the are allowed to get on the field.

Sean Conway (OG): Conway can help on a line that gave up 21 sacks last year.

Courtney Dalcourt (QB): Dalcourt could be that QB that replaces Smith if Western decides to look to the future and get him some playing time for next year.

Other players that could help: Galatian King (DT), Jamarielle Brown (WR), Will Adams (WR), Chuck Franks (ATH), Cole Tischer (ILB) and Denton Allman (S).

Western had a average running game last year but has to throw the ball a lot better to win games this year.

Western's first four games are non-conference matchups against Tennesse, South Florida, Central Arkansas, and Navy.  The Hilltoppers are looking at a 1-3 record in those games.

Western then plays eight games in conference and it will not be any better. 1-7 is what I have here for the Hilltoppers. I think they can beat the Ragin Cajuns from Louisiana-Lafayette, but nobody else.

So Hilltoppers fans: Rejoice, your team is offically in the BIG TIME, but 2-10 is going to hurt. But it can only get better, right?
