Futbol Chronicles: Brazil Is Still the True Master of Football

There is no doubt that Spain is the world's top-ranked nation. That alone does not mean it is the best team in football.

The best team in football as of now is Brazil, despite what many who read this column might think. Brazil is the best, simply not because of the five world championships or their recent run of play, but that the country continues to develop an outpouring of prized talent at every opportunity that comes.

Brazil have shown throughout the current Confederations Cup that despite Spain's convincing performances (not to mention Spain's winning streak as of late), the Spanish are still second fiddle to a team that has more than its make on the beautiful game in many forms and sizes.

Spain has only become the best team in the world since last summer's European victory. Before then, they were the chronological underachievers in international play.

Most of Spain's success can actually be attributed to their transformation of form and play, their ability to develop players of superior technical skill, and their ability to play against the likes of which their football can easily match itself against.

It seems very odd that people haven't recognized Brazil's run of play as of yet, but perhaps history will show that Spain still has a lot of work to in terms of maintaining success, and keeping the winning momentum.

Brazil are known for their talent, their master display of positive skill and football. The Spanish can only argue that their technical masterclass is what keeps the lads on top of everyone else.

Brazil are the five-time world champions. No movement in the FIFA ranking or Spain's run of play will change the fact that Brazil can still come out as the favorite to win it all, even in a possible Confederation match-up with Spain in the final.

The Spaniards know this, and they're smart enough to know not to let their current record and world ranking get to their heads, but rather approach their success as only what it is, and nothing more.
