Florida State has been named 18th overall in Lindy Magazine's football preseason top 25 poll.

The magazine predicts conference finishes; all-conference first and second teams across the nation, and the magazine predicts Florida State as becoming eligible for bowl appearances and enough to make a mark in the ACC this year.

Alongside FSU, other ACC competitors made the list. Virginia Tech is ranked fifth overall, Georgia Tech at 16th, and North Carolina at 19th. Rounding out the list at 25 is Brigham Young University, which Florida State will see on Sep. 19.

Lindy's has predicted big things for the Seminoles, with a prediction to be at the top of their division at the end of the year, much of this will fall upon the capable hands of the players as Lindy's has also named five players to their preseason All-Conference teams.

Florida State will have to get over some stiff competition to get to the top. While Boston College is in a period of rebuilding, Maryland and Wake Forest could prove to be stiff competition on the turf this year. The Seminoles will meet both teams in the last three weeks of competition before a gauntlet in Gainesville against the Florida Gators to end the season. Before that, games against Georgia Tech and North Carolina State in the middle of October will act as a barometer to see how the rest of the season will go as they enter regular ACC play.

There is a chance for a bowl game this year for the boys from Tallahassee; with nine bowl games scheduled in the ACC this year, there is no doubt of a postseason, but where that will be?

While preseason polls point to success this year for FSU, one can only hope that Bobby Bowden and his boys can get it done this year, building upon earlier successes last year.
