California Chrome entered the week as the heavy favorite, and that has not changed following the draw for post positions. However, the large field of contenders will all challenge to earn a spot in the winner's circle.

The star of the show is California Chrome, who comes into the race with four wins in a row since jockey Victor Espinoza came to the team.
While anything can happen once the starting gun goes off, owner Steve Coburn is quite confident.
After telling reporters that his horse will win the Derby, he followed that up by saying, "I think it is a done deal. I got this solid feeling in my chest and it wasn't gas," via Bill of the Los Angeles Times.

Still, there are other competitors likely to make a run for the title. Unfortunately, that will not include , who was recently scratched, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader:
There are other horses capable of finishing ahead of the pack, though. One sleeper to look out for is Ride On , who has been one of the more consistent thoroughbreds in the field.
