Todd Pletcher Could Have a Number of Chances to Win

As the trainer for Danza, Intense Holiday, We Miss Artie and Vinceremos, Pletcher has several irons in the proverbial fire.
Pletcher's horses would make up one-fifth of the field.
Only one horse can win, obviously, but in a sport dominated by betting, you've got to like those odds.
Vinceremos is locked in a tie with five other horses with 20 points in the standings. At least three of those horses won't make the field of 20.
Super Saver won Pletcher his first and only Kentucky Derby back in 2010. The 46-year-old Texan will be looking to have one of his horses add to the number.
California Chrome is the One to Beat

Trained by 77-year-old Art Sherman, California Chrome sits atop the Derby standings with 150 points. Beth Harris of the Associated Press, per The Boston Globe, sees the horse as the eventual favorite.
Despite the momentum the horse has built leading into the Run for the Roses, Harris wrote, "California Chrome will need some luck tangling with an expected full field of 20 horses for the 1¼-mile race at Churchill Downs. "
Luck is always a factor in horse racing. But considering California Chrome has won its last four races by a combined 24.25 lengths, per Harris, via The Huffington Post, speed might be the biggest factor.
Sherman told Bill Dwyre of the Los Angeles Times, "This horse is one of those who has a deep, deep desire to run."
He'll need it.
