British GP Qualifying: Mark Webber Blasts "Dreaming" Kimi Raikkonen

Yoosof FarahJun 20, 2009

After finishing third in qualifying for the 2009 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Red Bull driver Mark Webber has blasted Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen for blocking his path on the final hot lap.

The Australian was gunning for his career-first pole position, but claimed his hopes of achieving that were dashed by Raikkonen.

He said: "I had a big distraction from Kimi because he was totally asleep on the back straight.

"He couldn't have done a better job to distract me into Stowe. He sat on the racing line and just basically didn't care what was happening.

"Kimi was, I don't know, drinking some vodka or dreaming or something. I don't know what the hell he was doing.

"He should have been on the right and he's on the racing line, dreaming, so that wrecked my rhythm.

"These laps need to be absolutely perfect, so it wasn't the tidiest and cleanest finish to the most important part of qualifying.

"So there's some frustration inside, but hey, I'm not 10th, I'm third.

"When we're aiming higher, it's easier to get more disappointed. That's the way it was today."

Webber's German teammate Sebastien Vettel will start on pole, with Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello of Brawn GP accompanying him on the front row.

Current WDC leader Jenson Button, who so far has 61 points, will start from sixth on the grid after.

And last year's winner at Silverstone, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, will start all the way back in 19th, after a huge accident for Adrian Sutil in the Force India car meant Hamilton did not have a chance to make it through to the next qualifying session.
