NFL Draft Order 2014: Entire List of Selections at This Year's Draft
The 2014 NFL draft should become one of the most memorable editions of the marquee event in the past decade, if not longer. The high level of uncertainty, starting right away with the first overall selection, creates a lot of intrigue as to how the draft will play out.
This year's draft also doesn't feature a consensus top prospect. South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is widely considered to possess the most raw talent and is certainly capable of becoming a major force at the next level. Questions about his work ethic remain, however.
Clowney was asked about those concerns and his draft status at the Gamecocks' pro day. Pete Iacobelli of The Associated Press (via Yahoo News) passed along his responses, which were both brief and to the point:

"Yes, I do feel like I should be the first pick. ... I think my work ethic is pretty good. I think I proved that today, but I've still got a lot of proving to do."
While there's no doubt he sports enough talent to become one of the top defenders in the NFL, selecting him doesn't come without risk. Furthermore, his case shows exactly why the draft should be so entertaining. There are very few, if any, guarantees.
The top storyline on the offensive side of the ball is the quarterback group. None of the top prospects were able to separate themselves from the pack during the draft process, and others, who were previously viewed as potential second-round picks, forced teams to reconsider their approach.
Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater and the polarizing Johnny Manziel are slated as the top three, in no particular order, followed by Derek Carr. They were ticketed for the first round throughout most of the process.
Then there's a pack including the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo, Zach Mettenberger, A.J. McCarron, Aaron Murray and Tom Savage with less hype who could provide more value in the rounds that follow.
Interestingly, Peter King of Monday Morning Quarterback reported leading up to the draft that some of the quarterback-needy teams were considering the option of waiting to fill the void:
"I've heard that at least four quarterback-needy teams—Houston (first pick), Jacksonville (3), Cleveland (4) and Oakland (5)—are strongly considering passing on quarterbacks with their first picks and waiting until their second or third selections. Simple reason: They're not in love with any of the quarterbacks, and there are too many other good players who are surer things than a quarterback you have sincere doubts about. For that reason, there could be more quarterbacks taken in round two than round one.
"
Once again, it adds to that aura of unpredictability surrounding the 2014 NFL draft. It should all make for a very interesting couple of days starting on May 8.
