Brewers Skipper Ron Roenicke to Manage 500th Career Game

Bleacher Report MilestonesApr 15, 2014

Once Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals gets underway, Milwaukee Brewers skipper Ron Roenicke will man the team's dugout for the 500th time since he managed his first game for the Brewers on Thursday, March 31, 2011. In the process, he is set to become the sixth manager in franchise history to do so. He’ll join the company of Ned Yost, Phil Garner, Tom Trebelhorn, George Bamberger and Del Crandall as Brewers managers to have reached this career mark.

Roenicke currently boasts a career record of 263-236, with his .527 win percentage the best of any manager in the aforementioned group. The Brewers skipper sits at the bottom of this list in terms of his overall win total, though he's on track to pass Crandall (271 wins) in the not-too-distant future.

Roenicke has faced Tuesday’s opponent, the St. Louis Cardinals, more than any other team in his career, as he’s squared off against the team's NL Central rival 53 times. This matchup has brought Roenicke a bit of trouble over his tenure, however, as his .377 win percentage against the Cards is his worst mark against any of the Brew Crew's NL Central opponents.

At 10-3, Roenicke’s Brewers have the best record in baseball, and he hopes their hot start will lead them to their second postseason berth during his reign as manager.
