Jeff Adrien Takes Phantom Elbow to Face, Flops Fantastically for Refs

Dan CarsonApr 15, 2014

Save the last dance flop for Jeff.

With time mercifully running dry on a dumpster fire of a season, Jeff Adrien of the last-place Milwaukee Bucks managed to submit a late "Flop of the Year" entry for 2013-14.

Facing off against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, Adrien fell to the ground after taking a ghost elbow from Jonas Valanciunas.

Redditor Chanandlerer (h/t John Ferensen of Next Impulse Sports) crafted a GIF of Adrien's prodigious fakery. Not only did he manage to sell the offensive foul, he also whacked Valanciunas on the arm in the process.

Nowhere at any point in the play did Valanciunas' arm come within a foot of Adrien's head. He saw an elbow spin toward his person and reflexively took a seat on the hardwood.

The call wouldn't save the Bucks, however. Milwaukee fell to the Raptors, 110-100, bringing them to 15-66 on the season. With the loss, the Bucks clinched the No. 1 spot in the 2014 NBA draft lottery.

In other words, you did it, Adrien. You won at losing.

According to Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Adrien's teammate Nate Wolters claimed the team hadn't sought out defeat this season. He hopes they can all put this year of despair behind them.

"No one wants to have a season like this…I don't care who you are," Wolters said.

The 22-year-old point guard did admit he'd be watching the NBA draft attentively this summer.

"We're going to get a great player, regardess what happens [in the lottery]," Wolters said. "That will be exciting to get another guy, a piece to the puzzle."

Be on the lookout for more Bucks draft news. They want to entertain, to put out a product worth calling "professional."

While it's unclear which NBA-bound talent they're hoping to procure with their lottery pick, we know that size and theatrics are key assets in the league.

Perhaps there's a 7'2" kid out of Juilliard they could use in tandem with Adrien next season. They could call them the SAG squad.
