2014 NFL Schedule: Release Date, Team-by-Team Opponents and More
We've known for months what the 256 NFL regular-season matchups will be in 2014 and where they'll be played. However, we won't know when those games will take place until the league unveils the completed 2014 regular-season schedule this spring.
On Tuesday the NFL Around the league account finally confirmed when they will release the highly anticipated schedule:
Adding to the drama of this year's schedule release is the fact that, in March, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell talked about the possibility of eventually adopting an 18-game regular-season schedule and potential playoff expansion, via NFLCommunications.com:

"We’ve always said that in the Collective Bargaining Agreement we would negotiate those issues. When the right time comes, we’ll have the discussions of whatever we think is the right season structure is. We have had discussions about the expanded postseason. We will likely have more.

Must-See Matchups
Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks

In a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII, the defending NFL champion Seattle Seahawks will host reigning league MVP Peyton Manning and the revengeful Denver Broncos, who were embarrassed by the Hawks on the sport's biggest stage last February.
Although the Broncos won't be short on motivation, the Seahawks will likely be favored playing in the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field, where they've gone 15-1 over the past two seasons.
As NFL.com Around the League writer Kevin Patra points out, the two teams could potentially meet in the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 4:
"Finally, a rematch of Sunday's Super Bowl is a very real possibility. As we saw last year, the NFL loves to start the season by running back a juicy matchup from the previous year. Peyton Manning will fume all offseason following the Super Bowl pummeling. The NFL could give him a chance at revenge right off the bat. A rematch between the 2013 No. 1 offense and No. 1 defense would be a thrilling way to kick off the season.
If that did happen, it would be the first Super Bowl rematch in Week 1 since 1970, when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Minnesota Vikings after meeting in Super Bowl IV, per NFL Media research.
"
The Packers and 49ers are two other popular choices for Seattle's season opener. The Seahawks and Packers haven't met in the regular season since the unforgettable "Fail Mary" game in September 2012 while Seahawks-49ers has become the league's best rivalry in recent years.
Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints

While Seattle and San Francisco enter 2014 as the two favorites to win the NFC, the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints are right behind them and have the pieces in place to challenge Seattle atop the conference throne.
Therefore, this showdown between the Pack and Saints in the Big Easy is likely to have significant playoff implications in terms of seeding and home-field advantage.
On top of that, fans will have a rare opportunity to watch two of the league's top quarterbacks go head-to-head as former Super Bowl MVPs Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees square off in what's sure to be an exciting duel on the fast track inside the Superdome.
This matchup has prime time written all over it, but will be must-see television regardless of where it falls on the regular-season slate.
