Not an Article, More a Open Discussion

J. SeeJun 19, 2009

This is more town hall meeting, than article. I hope all the loyal reader's are okay with that. I'm not a writer. Just have some topic's that I'd like the Bronco Nation to see.

I have five topics I would like to talk about so lets just get started.

1. Jay Cutler

Here is my take. I keep reading and hearing on numerous sporting sites and in the media saying "Trading away Cutler set the Bronco's back years" Maybe…but If Orton has a better statistical year than Cutler does that makes us time travelers? Lets just say for sake of argument that Orton has 3300 yds, 18TD and 10 INTs and the Broncos go 8-8 or even 7-9 with this rough schedule. That most are saying should/could be more 6-10. Cutler throws for 3000 yds and 15 TD and 10 INTs and the Bears finish 8-8 with their schedule. Did the Broncos just time warp? Is Orton now the "Face of the Franchise"? I would have to say YES. Denver's D is better but still weak. So if Orton can pull out some close games in the end. Then the answer is Absolutely Yes. In this system HE CAN be successful and win games. Thoughts??

2. Trade or Keep Marshall

Both I think are an option at this time. Marshall wants money and Denver wants reliability. I think both could get what they want. I would be very shocked to see Marshall anywhere but Denver, but I also said that about Cutler last year. Just like they say " Anything could happen on Any Given Sunday" What do you ask in return? What do you have without Marshall? These questions I would like to hear answered.

3. Overall 2009 Season

This was a very earth shaking offseason. I don't see the Regular Season any easier. Very tough schedule, new system, and a lot of new faces. I don't see 8-8 or 9-7 out of the question. I can also see 7-9 or 6-10. Win a couple close games. Playoffs could be in the future, lose them and 7-9 might be a blessing, your thoughts?

4. Mike Vick

I can't keep this short and sweet so here's my soap box. I lost all faith in him. Not so much for the dogfighting (a lot worse happens everyday in this world) but more for the man he is. If I could ask Mike Vick one question it would be "Why?" Why did you throw everything away? You were on top of the world and you let dogs take that away from you. "Why?" Before the NFL was a reality, now it might just be a dream. Once a king now just a jester. All because of dogfighting or lying to the courts. Either way he should have come out and said "Yes, I did it. I did the crime, I'll pay the time." If his back ground has dog fighting as a kid he knew it was wrong. So just be a man. Say you did it. That to me is better than lying and doing jail time. If he had just come clean (Not after a court ruling or barging agreement) I would have no problem letting him back in the NFL, now I think he should watch it with the rest of us. Sit back Mike, think about what could have been.

5. AFC West

Not to many years ago I remember the AFC West being one of, if not the toughest division in football. Can any of you remember when? So, what happened? It seems the talent level is still there, but the team's seem to fall apart. Look at the 08 Charger's had a horrible start. Then by the end were killing team's. Just a few years back Denver was 1 game away from the Super Bowl under Jake "The Snake" and forgot to show up at the stadium to play Pittsburgh for the AFC title. KC and Oakland had some really good teams too. Had it not been for the "Tuck Rule" Oakland may have been Super Bowl champs. I just don't get it. Any of you know? Did the earth stop spinning and the AFC West fell off when it started again?

Hey, thanks for reading and look forward to the discussions. Well if any.

Thanks

J.
